Founded by Caroliny Pereira and Vladimir Matis, Galerie Brazil Modernist is a São Paulo and Paris-based gallery specializing in Brazilian collectible design. It highlights the dialogue between historical modernism and the contemporary scene, with a strong focus on authenticity, rarity, and craftsmanship.
For PAD London 2025, Brazil Modernist presents an exceptional selection that brings together rare modernist pieces by Carlo Hauner, Lina Bo Bardi, Joaquim Tenreiro, José Zanine Caldas, Oscar Niemeyer, and Giuseppe Scapinelli, alongside works from the new Brazilian contemporary scene represented by Lucas Recchia, André Ferri, Nicole & Luiza Toldi, and Tiago Braga.
Highlights include Giuseppe Scapinelli’s rare “Streamline” Sideboard (c. 1950), Oscar Niemeyer’s maquette for the WWII Memorial Esplanade in Rio de Janeiro, and a very rare desk by Carlo Hauner. The gallery also presents a pair of José Zanine Caldas “Zeca” Armchairs and original drawings by Niemeyer.
On the contemporary side, Lucas Recchia unveils new pieces such as the Oval Center Table in Santorini quartzite and glass, the “Zel” Side Table, and the “Adam” Chair. André Ferri presents unique sculptures from his “Seres” collection, while Nicole & Luiza Toldi show works from their “Lumen” series, including the Orla Mirror and ceramic sculptures combining porcelain, enamel, precious stones, and brass. Finally, Tiago Braga, brings poetic lighting from the “Arandu Estelar” and “Ybatinga” series, made of hand-felted natural wool.
This panorama reflects Brazil Modernist’s commitment to bridging heritage and innovation within the international field of collectible design.
