Bio
NM Art & Design is a gallery and interior design studio with a particular focus on craft and a desire to promote artistic integrity. Many of its artists are also makers, who painstakingly produce their own creations, combining age-old techniques with a spirit of innovation. An exploration of material is central to much of the work. A number of the gallery’s designers concentrate on exploring the possibilities of just one—whether it be textile, ceramic, wood or glass — conjuring up pieces that celebrate the intervention of the human hand. They are organic and expressive, tactile and textural, unique and original. At times, a material mimics another. Ceramic resembles wood, cardboard looks like clay, shifting perceptions and amplifying their expressive potential.
The gallery has a firm belief that great design is global, working with both established and upcoming creators from around the world. Rather than being tied to a specific space or location, it prefers to embrace a peripatetic approach, participating in fairs [and organizing pop-up exhibitions] internationally. This September will see the launch of its online platform.
“At NM Art & Design, we embrace the philosophy of ‘natural simplicity,’” says its founder Natalia Maslova, “fostering a dialogue that transcends geographic and creative boundaries.”
“For our team, each presentation is an opportunity to create a unified narrative where material, form, and emotion are in dialogue — allowing every work to resonate with its own voice,” adds art director and curator Anastassiya Grinina.
