Bio

Founded by Maria Wettergren in Paris in 2010, the eponymous gallery first opened its doors in the Saint Germain district and in 2020, opened a new space in the Marais.

The gallery is specialized in contemporary collectible art and design pieces by some of the most important artists, designers and architects from Scandinavia, such as Mathias Bengtsson, Astrid Krogh, Rasmus Fenhann, Ilkka Suppanen, Tora Urup, Eske Rex, Ditte Hammerstroem and Hanne Friis.

Galerie Maria Wettergren focuses on interdisciplinary works, dialoguing between art, design, architecture, crafts, science and high technologies. The gallery produces unique pieces and/or limited editions in the fields of collectible furniture design, textile art, sculptural objects, ceramics and glass. Galerie Maria Wettergren curates solo exhibitions, edits catalogues and sells to important international collectors and museums such as the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Museum, New York; Designmuseum Danmark; Mudac, Lausanne; Design Museo, Finland.

In 2013, the gallery was included in the Power 100 of the Art+Auction magazine, selecting the 100 most important personalities of the artworld, and in 2014 Maria Wettergren received the Finn Juhl Prize for her promotion of Scandinavian designers on the international art scene.

The gallery participates in important international art and design fairs, such as Design Miami/Basel, The Salon ART + Design, New York; PAD/London; PAD/Paris; Art Geneve; FIAC; TEFAF/Maastricht and TEFAF/New York.
