Bio
Gallery Gaïa & Romeo was founded from Frédéric Cassin’s desire to share a collector’s passion cultivated over more than two decades. Over time, his eye has increasingly focused on the leading figures of post-war Italian ceramics, including Salvatore Meli, Guido Gambone, Carlo Zauli, Marcello Fantoni, Lino Bersani and Nino Caruso – artists who played a pivotal role in shaping European modernism.
At a turning point in his journey, Frédéric Cassin has chosen, together with his goddaughter Antoinette Monnier, to open this collection to a wider public and to share its artistic and historical significance. This new phase follows a notable sale at Christie’s Paris in December 2024, devoted to the work of Jacques and Dani Ruelland, and marks the beginning of a new chapter.
From the outset, Gallery Gaïa & Romeo has positioned itself on the international stage, notably through its participation in the inaugural edition of Ceramic Art Fair Paris, affirming a rigorous curatorial vision and a clear ambition to foster the international circulation of works.
On the occasion of PAD Paris 2026, Gallery Gaïa & Romeo presents a rare group of 27 Italian ceramic works dating from the 1950s to the 1970s, a period widely regarded as the golden age of the medium.
