Palaty gallery was founded by Julia Loboyko in 2020 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Palaty prioritizes uncovering local unique authors that revitalize traditional design through a modern lens. It is a demonstration of Russian culture recycled via local design and functional artistry.
Our mission at Palaty is to discover and apply local Russia DNA in objects relevant to world design. We do not isolate Russian design and craft into separate categories but introduce them as the unique features of what is in demand in a global sense.
The hidden unimaginable diversity of Russian culture inspired us to start numerous regional travelling expeditions to find novel artists and gather them all under the same roof.
Going outside the usual comfort zone of Saint Petersburg and Moscow, we strive to make known the work that is done in smaller, less known regions. Our journey map includes Dagestan, Vologda, Kazan, Nalchik, Pskov, Irkutsk, Samara and Kuban. The most unique craftsmanship and delicate handiwork that was kept in the dark for such a long time is now becoming a statement in collectible design.
