Her recent research focuses primarily on sleep disturbances, light deregulation and technology dependence. Valentine aims to instigate a healthier relationship with our biological clock through everyday objects such as curtains, clocks and screens; to enhance our everyday lives by inducing a perception of time that is in harmony with our biological systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Valentine\u2019s design methodology is inspired by mechanics and the power of visual stimulus. The piece shown here, Daydreaming, is a water-based &#8216;alternative clock&#8217; intended for use in rest and sleep rituals. The gentle vibration of the water provoked by the movement of the weight becomes not just a visual experience but a felt, experienced thing; a sensation reinforced by the subtle changes in colour.
