Founded by Maria Wettergren in Paris in 2010, the eponymous gallery first opened its doors in the Saint Germain district before relocating in 2020 to a larger space in the Marais.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Galerie Maria Wettergren specializes in contemporary collectible art and design, with a strong interdisciplinary approach that fosters dialogue between art, design, architecture, craftsmanship, science, and new technologies. The gallery produces and presents unique pieces and limited editions in collectible furniture, textile art, sculptural works, ceramics, and glass.<\/p>\n
Focused on leading Scandinavian artists, designers, and architects \u2014 including Mathias Bengtsson, Astrid Krogh, Rasmus Fenhann, Ilkka Suppanen, Tora Urup, Eske Rex, Ditte Hammerstroem, and Hanne Friis \u2014 the gallery has progressively expanded its program to embrace a broader international perspective. While maintaining its strong Nordic identity, it now collaborates with artists from other regions, including Asia and Africa, notably Korean artists Hyejeong Kim, Hyejeong Ko, and Inhwa Lee, Indian designer Dhruv Agarwwal, and Franco-Togolese designer Estelle Yomeda, reflecting an evolving and increasingly global curatorial vision.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The gallery is known for its commitment to conceptually driven, materially innovative, and sensorial works. It regularly organizes solo exhibitions, publishes catalogues, and participates in major international art and design fairs such as Design Miami (Basel, Miami & Paris), PAD (Paris & London), TEFAF (Maastricht & New York) and FOG (San Francisco).<\/p>\n
Galerie Maria Wettergren works with important international collectors and museums, including institutions such as the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Museum (New York), Designmuseum Danmark, Mudac (Lausanne), and Design Museum Finland.<\/p>\n
Maria Wettergren has been recognized internationally for her contribution to the art and design field. In 2013, the gallery was included in the Art+Auction Power 100 list, and in 2014 Maria Wettergren received the Finn Juhl Prize for her promotion of Scandinavian designers on the international art scene.<\/p>\n
