Bio

Elisabetta Cipriani invites world leading contemporary visual artists to create aesthetically innovative wearable art projects. Since the opening of her London gallery in 2009, Elisabetta’s pioneering vision has redefined the boundaries between jewellery and fine art, capturing the imaginations of artists and collectors across the globe. Jewellery is not seen as a mere divertissement, but as a true declination of artistic research, in which new creative elements and others of a more technical nature are explored. These are brilliantly created thanks to the close collaboration with highly qualified goldsmiths selected by Elisabetta, who bring sensitivity and expertise to each individual projects. Over the years, names such as Tom Sachs, Atelier Van Lieshout, Erwin Wurm, Rebecca Horn, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Kendell Geers, Chiharu Shiota, Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Ai Weiwei, Giulio Paolini, Enrico Castellani, Giorgio Vigna, Jannis Kounellis and Giuseppe Penone, among others, have joined her. It was specifically with the work Foglia (Leaf) by Giuseppe Penone that Elisabetta’s gallery won the acquisition prize for the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2012 during the participation of her first international fair.

Today, various projects, the result of the collaboration between Elisabetta Cipriani and the artists, are present in numerous private collections and international museums such the World Jewellery Museum, Seoul; Design Museum Den Bosch, Hertogenbosch, Netherlands as well as the forementioned Musée des Arts Décoratifs  (MAD) in Paris. In addition, many of Elisabetta’s projects are part of the Diane Venet’s well- known private collection exhibited in museums around the world since 2008. In 2018, Elisabetta also launched a new project, EC Lab, an experimental workshop where jewellery designers and goldsmiths, both unknown and established are encouraged to challenge even further  traditional aesthetics and propose new and innovative use of materials.
